About the Comic

What's with the name "More to Life"
As it turns out, I'm horrible with naming. It's why the chapters are title-less in this and Wings of a God. At the time I made the comic, I was going through my music library to clear things out and started listening to Stacie Orrico's "More to Life" and it really fit Mimi and the story line.

Where did you come up with the idea?
For awhile I roleplayed on Lilliumn's. I thought about what would happen if two of my characters, Mimi and Jayze, met. It seemed like a neat idea to draw, and I wanted to prove I could finish a comic. It was originally going to be about 10 pages and take a month to finish. And now it's on the third chapter and I've been working on it for over a year. Funny how that works.

The first comic wasn't put up until July '07 and this was put up in May, you haven't been doing this for a year!
I started drawing the first page on May 16, 2007. Initially I only posted the comic to the roleplay forums I based it on. I posted it to various comic sites at different times.

The plot is lame! How can someone write about college when they're in highschool?!
To the first point: yea... kind of. Could you please save complaints on the plot until the comic is finished?
To the second: Pretty badly, which is why I don't touch too much on college-specific things like classes and junk. I've lived in a residential school for 2 years and been to various sleep-over camps, but I don't have personal experience with college. Overall, the same way a person can write murder mysteries without being either a detective or a murder.

Some of the Characters look familiar from other things.
There are 2 pages that use cameos from other comics and one with various old characters of mine. If you spotted those- kudos.
I do reuse my own characters, though. Char & Win are from a different roleplay site originally, and I've written several stories about both. I plan on doing another comic about both and maybe one about just Win. Mark isn't from anywhere. I literally made him up as I drew him.

Why not just make up new characters?
Because I like my characters. I really should've, but it was easier to just use these characters instead of making up almost identical characters.
About the Process

Why does the style keep changing?
I'd like to think I haven't made any serious style changes since chapter 1.
Seriously, though, I'm new to this. I've been drawing comics forever, but they never had decent panels and I barely knew what cel style (the coloring style of the comic) was when I started. I keep making adjustments to try and keep a good balance between how fast I can produce a comic and how well the page looks.

How long does it take you to draw a page?
A week. Sometimes two, hence the delays.
Okay, honestly- I'm not sure. I once sketched & inked a page in 4 hours, but it was from 11pm-3am while pausing to listen to particularly good jokes on Comedy Central Presents. I never actually finish a page in one sitting, it generally really does stretch over about a week, so I couldn't say for sure.
Oddly, I think pages without dialogue take longer than those with dialogue.

How do you draw these?
If you're asking for how to draw lessons, the internet and a search for "how to draw" will give you much more useful answers. Overall, practice.

How I draw these comics, specifically, is a process that I doubt is too special. I scripted all the comics, so I just consult the script, lay down a basic outline of the page panels/positions, sketch & ink the actual page, scan, clean up, Flatten & Multi-fill, put in base colors, use the lasso tool to put down shading, add speech bubbles, and voila.

About the Artist

Who writes this junk?
Believe it or not, the same person who sketches, draws, inks, scans, colors, shades, and speech-bubbles this junk. I work alone, mostly because no one wants to work with me.

So who are you?
Just a guy that likes drawing comics. More specifically, I'm a high school student who will soon be a starving college student. I draw as a way to relax, which is a bit ironic because keeping updates can be stressful when everyone decides to assign things the same week.
I'm still figuring out who I am and who I want to be, but I think a lot of people are like that.

No, really, who are you? Tell me everything about you.
Er... that's a bit personal for people I don't know. If you have specific questions, I might, but I'd rather not tell the entire internet my life story.

Aside from comics, what are your hobbies?
Yes. They are: Writing, torturing characters, watching musicals, avoiding homework, listening to movies, reading webcomics, drawing webcomics, designing sites by hand, making mirror sites

I have a question/comment/etc. How can I contact you?
First- Mention the comic or I'll have no idea who you are. :D Now, there are two fine ways to get ahold of me.
